Finisar 1500S isa spectral analyzer that offers very high spectral resolution and has a fast update rate of 4 measurements per second throughout the C-band, or 10 Hz within any 200 GHz window. Its working principle is coherent detection based on fast scanning lasers. In addition to being extremely compact, WaveAnalyzer 1500S is rugged as the measurement core contains no moving parts. The instrument is controlled by a Windows-based computer using a graphical user interface or application programming interface (API). A measurement example of a 10G PRBS signal is shown below. It shows the high-resolution trajectory of WaveAnalyzer compared to standard raster-based OSA, which provides a resolution bandwidth of 0.01nm. WaveAnalyzer tracking is a single scan measurement with subpicmeter resolution, obtained in approximately 0.25s without averaging.
