The Agilent M9502A 2-slot AXIe chassis is fully compatible with the AXIe 1.0 specification. Each unit has either 2 or 5 AXIe instrument module slots, and each unit has an embedded system module that does not occupy the instrument slot. The Embedded System Module (ESM) provides a Gigabit LAN and a second-generation x8 PCIe interface for connecting the chassis to an external controller. To minimize rack space, instrument module slots are arranged horizontally. In addition, the chassis is designed to be easy to maintain. When the chassis remains in the rack, both the power supply and fan brackets can be removed after the module is installed
