The N4691B MW Electronic Calibration (ECal) module enables fast, easy and accurate calibration of vector network analyzers. RF ECal systems can now be easily controlled by one of two methods, depending on the network analyzer. The Agilent PNA and ENA series network analyzers can control the module directly via USB interface. When used with Agilent 8753E/ES/ET or 8720D/ES/ET, these modules can also be controlled via the 85097B interface suite. (This requires a special parallel cable and firmware Rev. 7.74).
ECal is the ideal solution for calibrating network analyzers. It takes less than half the time and number of connections to perform a full two-port calibration with ECal compared to a mechanical calibration kit. In addition, the calibration accuracy of the electronic and mechanical methods is comparable. Traditional mechanical calibration requires a lot of operator intervention, which is prone to error. With ECal, the operator simply connects the ECal module to the network analyzer and the rest is controlled by software.
